PhD students enrolled in the PhD program Technology and Engineering-Oriented Research are members of the Graduate School of Medical and Health Sciences.
The focus of this PhD Program lies on the research and development of technologies whose application is relevant to health, and is particularly recommended for students of the Faculty of Medicine with Biomedical Engineering as their PhD subject.
Before graduating, GSMHS PhD students must earn at least 18 ECTS alongside their research. Each student’s individual study plan is developed in collaboration with their doctoral committee, especially the first supervisor.
Students can tailor their curriculum to their interests, selecting from Master’s and PhD courses offered by the University of Basel, GSMHS, GRACE, as well as other national or international universities and institutes.
As outlined in the regulations, ECTS may be granted for:
GSHMS PhD students must complete a minimum of 2 ECTS from at least two of the following domains:
To help PhD students enrolled in the Technology and Engineering-Oriented Research program plan their studies, we have compiled a list of recommended courses below.
Please note:
PhD students in this program are required to attend the Seminar Series: Latest Breakthroughs in Biomedical Engineering Research at least once during their studies.
In addition to scientific and methodological training, it is highly recommended that GSMHS PhD students participate in at least one multi-day event (minimum 2 days) to network with other PhD students.
