    Looking for a PhD Position?

Do you aim to become PhD student in health sciences at the University of Basel? Your first step is to find a PhD supervisor who guides you during the PhD project and studies. You may find a supervisor by applying to advertised PhD positions or contacting potential PhD supervisors directly.

Note, GSMHS itself does not offer funded positions. Many PhD students are supported by third-party funding tied to specific research projects. Alternatively, candidates may secure their own funding through external fellowships (to be applied for independently).

Joining GSMHS is possible once you've been registered at the University of Basel.

Applying for an advertised PhD position

We strongly encourage candidates to apply for advertised PhD positions. These opportunities are listed on the job portals of our affiliated institutes. Please follow the application instructions provided in each listing carefully.

    Find a supervisor

Identifying a potential supervisor is the first crucial step. We encourage you to explore our doctoral programs and browse the websites of our partner institutions to identify a research group and to find a supervisor that aligns with your interests.
